Environmental noise about us, especially in residential areas, is usually the sum total of noise emissions from transportation vehicles be they cars, trucks, trains or airplanes. Building location and building shell (facade) design in the more noisy of such environments needs to be engineered to produce good residential and occupational environments. We have provided such service since 1980. Typical efforts include a 24-hour noise survey on the proposed land parcel, environmental noise analysis and noise control design. Follow-up inspection of bid drawings and specifications, field inspection and field testing of the assembled building components before occupancy and proof-of-performance testing on-site after construction is complete and before or during initial occupancy is also provided. For instance, the Radisson at Port Columbus (OH), the Quality Inn Newark Airport (NJ) and the Holiday Inn near Cincinnati Airports are noise control designs by us. We have successfully designed the noise control for apartment buildings in DNL 75 to DNL80 (freeway traffic) area. Such projects enjoy high occupancy and success since they are located in a desirable area and they are completely comfortable for residential use.
